Urban Art Beat

Urban Art Beat is a non profit created by school teacher Rosa Bettina, who saw the need for after school programs and recognized the power of hip hop to bring a positive impact to youth while working in the public school system in the Bronx. Through Critical Revolutionary Hip Hop Pedagogy, a training program developed by lead teaching artist Spiritchild, teaching artists work to empower underserved youth with the tools of hip hop culture. Cyphers, mentorship, and lessons from history on the roots of hip hop and how the music and culture has been a way to bring awareness to issues and bring about change are formed to inspire youth to shine their voice in reflection of their own lives and the issues of the world today.
